Conflicts of Interest

Current

I do not currently receive any money or other consideration from any military or propaganda agency.

DHS CISA: I serve in an unpaid role on the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's Cybersecurity Technical Advisory Council, advising on topics related to cyber-defense and infrastructure resilience.

Historical

Al Jazeera: In 2013, I wrote an article on Brazilian industrial development which was published in Al Jazeera. Al Jazeera is funded in part by the government of Qatar and considered by some to be a voice of pro-Sunni, anti-Shia, propaganda. Al Jazeera has been sanctioned at various times by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, generally as part of larger conflicts between Qatar and its neighboring countries.

US Defense Department: I was a member of the Highlands Forum, and have performed paid consulting for the DoD office of Policy, and received research grants from DARPA, all on topics related to cyber-defense and infrastructure resilience.

Singapore Ministry of Defence: I have performed paid consulting for the Singaporean Ministry of Defense and precursors to the Singaporean Cyber Security Agency, all on topics related to cyber-defense and infrastructure resilience.
